Effectiveness in the design, delivery, and evaluation of humanitarian assistance means not only developing and applying tools and processes that are based on or generate evidence, but also tracking how much it costs to deliver outcomes through different programmes , and using that cost evidence to inform future responses. To this end, gathering and methodically analysing evidence about the costs of different interventions will help direct available resources toward programmes that have the greatest reach and impact.

For over ten years, the ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ has provided holistic support to survivors of sexual violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo, delivering health care, legal assistance and emotional support. Recently, the ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ collaborated with Johns Hopkins and the University of Washington to introduce and evaluate another form of therapy for women in need of additional, specialised support, called Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). The ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ understands how vital education can be for creating stability and reducing trauma for children affected by conflict. Through the Children of Peace initiative the ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ and the European Commission’s Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection department (ECHO) are training teachers, rebuilding classrooms, providing a quality education, as well as leisure activities, and helping children have a normal childhood. The ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ is also working closely with parents and the community to invest in the futures of their children through education.
