COMMITMENT
Volunteers: Minimum 4 hours per week 
Interns: Minimum 15 hours per week for at least 4 full months, or 240 hours total 

 

Scope of Work

The Finance Support volunteer / intern will support the Finance team with various financial accounting processes through projects and month end close responsibilities. This may include ensuring financial transactions and statements are completed timely and accurately in compliance with GAAP / IFRS, and that accounting records contain the information necessary to meet reporting requirements to internal management and donors.  

 

This position reports to the Finance Manager.

  • This is an unpaid volunteer / intern opportunity
  • Acceptance is contingent upon clearing a $40 background check
  • Internships are available for current college students starting their second year, graduate students, and graduates within 2 years of graduation
  • Course credit is available if the student coordinates with their university and confirms the appropriate paperwork with the ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ Volunteer Coordinator  
     

BACKGROUND

At work in over 45 countries and 29 U.S. cities to restore safety, dignity and hope, the ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ leads the way from harm to home. Domestically, our 29 offices across the U.S. ensure new arrivals have food, shelter, and clothing, and work with refugees to help them gain self-sufficiency.
 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with some stages of check processing 
  • Auditing and filing financial records 
  • Reconcile inventory with records to ensure accuracy of records 
  • Assist with researching, follow-up, and resolving outstanding checks 
  • Assist in various accounting / finance related projects as needed 
     

REQUIREMENTS

  • At least 2 years’ relevant work experience in finance and accounting related work 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite 
  • Reliable and flexible 
  • Willing to adhere to ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ volunteer and workplace policies 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
