For World Health Day 2021, we asked some of the thousands of ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ colleagues providing care for people affected by conflict and crisis what they learnt from a year of fighting COVID-19 and what their hopes are for the future.

Since mid-2013, the ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ has promoted community awareness about violence against women, setting up services for survivors and supporting health workers. Dr. Ahmed is one of several key staffers at the ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡-supported health facility in Mogadishu, where the first survivor of sexual violence sought support in February 2014. Since then, the ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ team has helped more than 30 survivors.

For the first time, the ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ is providing an academically accredited health training programme for displaced Burmese living in Thailand. More than 250 community members are currently enrolled and will be able to deliver healthcare services within their own towns and villages.
