The ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡â€™s staff leadership board and senior leaders group manage the strategy and implementation of the ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡â€™s humanitarian work worldwide.

Poor health can undermine people’s potential to improve their lives. The ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ helps those who are experiencing or recovering from conflict and disaster reduce their risk of falling ill and receive treatment when they do get sick.  

The ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ first bestowed its Freedom Award for extraordinary contributions to the cause of refugees and human freedom to Willy Brandt. The year was 1957.

Who are refugees and displaced persons? They are men, women and children fleeing war, persecution and political upheaval. They are uprooted with little warning, enduring great hardship during their flight. They become refugees when they cross borders and seek safety in another country.

The ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ helps those who are recovering from conflict and disaster seek protection from harm, build safer communities, and understand their human rights.

The ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ provides children, youth and adults with educational opportunities that help keep them safe and learning the skills they need to survive and thrive.
