The ̽����ѡ in Salt Lake City is currently running a series, “Refugee Resettlement”, describing our efforts to resettle and serve refugee individuals and families who now call the Beehive State “home.” Part two focuses on efforts to reach self-sufficiency and positively integrate into Salt Lake County.

For children to succeed academically and thrive in their schools, parent engagement is critical. Although parent access within schools may be limited for refugee parents at times, they work to make connections with teachers and support their children’s education.

At four days old, he doesn’t yet have a name, or a birth certificate. The young Rohingya boy is embarking on a life already more challenging than most—born an unregistered refugee in the world’s biggest refugee camp.

Abdelgabar Mohamdian is a farmer at heart. He grew crops and raised livestock in Sudan. Now, 17 years after he came to the United States, he is growing vegetables and making them available to the community through the ̽����ѡ (̽����ѡ) in Phoenix’s New Roots weekly produce box program.

On March 19, the ̽����ѡ in Atlanta held its first ever high school graduation for 13 hard-working students in our Connect 2 Success (C2S) program—one of the only programs in the U.S. dedicated exclusively to supporting out-of-school refugee youth ages 16 to 24 to pursue their education and career goals.

The ̽����ѡ in Atlanta is thrilled to announce that two of our very own—Lauren Bowden and Grace Paulsen—were selected as 2019 Young Nonprofit Professionals Network ‘30 Under 30’ Award recipients!

The ̽����ѡ in Atlanta’s Microenterprise Development (MED) program is proud to support refugee and immigrant business owners from around the world—to honor the culture, passion and ideas these innovators bring to the Atlanta community, we spent the week of November 13 – 19 celebrating Global Entrepreneurship Week.

Based in Lithonia, Transit CPR provides mobile first aid and CPR training to individuals and groups in the metro-Atlanta area.
