March 17 marks the 40th Anniversary of President Jimmy Carter signing the Refugee Act of 1980. Forty years ago, Congress passed landmark legislation with near unanimous bipartisan support creating a formal process for welcoming refugees based on humanitarian needs and U.S. interests.

Nicole Sanchez began her internship in the summer of last year with the Intensive Case Management (ICM) program at the ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ in Phoenix. At the ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ (̽»¨¾«Ñ¡), interns play an important role in offering support to our program teams and clients while advancing our mission.

April 2024 marks one year since fighting broke out between rival factions of Sudan’s security force, the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), engulfing Sudan in conflict. Read our report here.

The 2400 Miles Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness about the international refugee crisis and supporting organizations like the ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ in Silver Spring. In the summer of 2018, the organization will participate in the Great Pacific Race, rowing from California to Hawaii in order to raise awareness of the refugee crisis.

With the support of the David & Lucile Packard Foundation, the ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ piloted a new approach to increase access to sexual and reproductive health (SRH) care for adolescents in Goma, DRC. This report highlights the strategy developed to address foundational facility and community-level barriers that prevent adolescents from accessing and receiving quality SRH services. 

In honor of Constitution and Citizenship Day (Sep 17) our incredible friends at Citizenship Giveback came out to the ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ in Atlanta office to present their first donation of book proceeds—an incredible $1,000—to support the ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ in Atlanta’s Adult Education programs.
