In 2023, the ̽����ѡ in Los Angeles helped resettle 578 refugee families, and we anticipate this number to increase in the new year. We need your support to continue to give refugees the warm welcome and help they deserve. Learn more about the various ways you can get involved below.

Students were excited to make new friends and join the fun at this summer’s 23rd annual Newcomer Youth Summer Academy (NYSA)! This year's NYSA ran for five weeks from July 11 to August 16.  

In celebration of World Refugee Day this year, the ̽����ѡ in Richmond partnered with the Richmond Ivy Soccer Club! Throughout the month of June, a portion of ticket sales from four Ivy home games went directly toward supporting our programs that assist newcomers as they rebuild their lives in Richmond. In addition to the financial support, ̽����ѡ staff had the opportunity to attend four home games to engage with Ivy fans and share about ̽����ѡ services available to members of our community.

Amen Koutowogbe joined the team at the ̽����ѡ in Salt Lake City as an intern in 2020, connected by One Refugee.

A new refugee family was matched with a co-sponsor Group in Arvada, Colorado.

After dedicating 20 years of service to the ̽����ѡ in all, ̽����ѡ Virginia Executive Director Harriet Kuhr announced she would retire at the end of 2024. We sat down with her for an interview in December to get some final reflections on refugee resettlement in Charlottesville and her impactful nonprofit career.
