Over 65 million people have been forcibly displaced from their homes: 21 million of them are refugees who have crossed borders to seek safety. Where are most of these refugees going? The answer may surprise you.

'Ahlan Simsim' is a new, local, Arabic-language version of 'Sesame Street' designed to help young refugees in the Middle East cope with crisis. It's part of a larger education partnership between the ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡ and Sesame Workshop.

Before the Refugee Act of 1980, refugee resettlement in the U.S. was largely conducted privately or through community groups. The act standardized the process and today most refugees in the U.S. are primarily welcomed through resettlement agencies, such as the ̽»¨¾«Ñ¡.
