In reaction to the attack west of Ramadi, Anbar, 探花精选鈥檚 Iraq Country Director Wendy Taeuber said: 鈥淲e are appalled and deeply saddened to hear of the reported loss of 14 lives in Kilo 60/ Al Wafaa camp. We strongly condemn this attack against those who hoped to find safety after being forced by ISIS to flee their homes.

鈥溙交ň teams who were in the area in the afternoon report that those killed include women, children and police officers. As many as 17 additional displaced people were injured in the incident and many of the victims had only arrived at the camp today.

鈥淭his attack is a cruel reminder of the violence that still threatens the lives of people across Iraq. After fleeing conflict and violence in search of protection, it is imperative that camps for displaced families remain secure and neutral places. We call on all parties to respect the civilian and humanitarian character of camps.鈥
